Stand By Me

Today I am gonna talk to you guys about the the music video "Stand By Me" created by Playing for Change. This video does the Ben E. King's song justice with multiple people utilizing there talents to recreate the song in different parts of the world. It focuses mostly on those who seem to be street performers. although they could of got famous people to do it they decided to keep the video humble by using those who go unrecognized. The video is very fitting to the song as the song speaks on equality and loving each other, while the video is made up with people all around the world showing how we are all alike. I admired some very amazing parts of this video. One of my favorites is when they have 3 men from different parts of the world singing the same verse and editing it together to make it one voice.

I think the way they edited the video really made his message clear that we are all one people and theirs no need for us to fight. In a way his message is inspiring the way he plays on our emotions by bringing in the less fortunate people from around the world to make this video. The fact that they traveled around the world and it took them about 10 years to make this video it shows they were really dedicated to create something unique and special, letting people know to never give up on something important to them. The mail idea I get from this video is that no matter where out from we are all the same, we can all come to together and work out our differences. If you haven't seen this video you should really go watch it on the link below

Why Horoscopes Are Comforting

I've been thinking about horoscopes a lot lately and reading them really gives me a sense of security on my life, so this article really stood out to me. Its called " Why Horoscopes Are Comforting " written by Galit Atlas. I wanna break down a couple of paragraphs for you guys today. In Atlas's first paragraph she starts off strong with statements claiming that the brain is constantly trying to predict things everyday. she also mentions how it can run multiple scenarios in which we decide how to do things. But it lacks the mention of actual horoscopes and it takes to long to get to its main point. she establish a relationship with evolution by claiming the decisions we make based off of our predictions helped us advance and grow. I felt as if this whole first paragraph is just a long opener to get us ready for her main point.

The third paragraph is much shorter but still brings up some good information. She makes reasonable claims of how comforting it is to know whats coming. She states that children will constantly watch the same movie over and over again because they like the fact that they know what will happen. Horoscopes are a form of security and work as clarity she says, especially when individuals crave to make sense of their existence. I believe this paragraph main intent was to persuade the reader with evidence that horoscopes are comforting to the mind.

The Fifth paragraph gives great detail on the effects of relying to heavily on horoscopes. She provides claims based off of evidence from neuroscience and allows the readers to know that believing in horoscopes to heavily can lead to a change in perceptions and alter brain activity. She states that these expectations can completely change the way we think about things, even giving an example saying pain can be modulated through a individuals expectations. This paragraph feels to inform the reader that while horoscopes can comfort you, you shouldn't rely on them heavily while it could lead to your down fall. Overall I enjoyed the article and the knowledge I received from it. It actually made me enjoy reading horoscopes even more.

Is college a waste of time?

Is college a waste of time? This question sparked an essay that I will be speaking on today in my blog. The thesis statement can be found at he end of the first paragraph. This essay is riddled with different points of evidence but I will provide 3 of them specifically. 1. Failure is punished instead of seen as a learning opportunity. meaning instead of students getting help when they do poorly in college they just get a bad grade and have to move on regardless of there lack of knowledge. 2. A major function of college is to signal to potential employers that one is qualified for work. This is referring to the new methods of technology to allow for more unqualified people to get higher paying jobs. 3. College is expensive. just like it says, college will put a serious dent in your pockets. I pretty much agree with a lot of this essays points and feel that college is not a necessity to everyone but I am still attending for the benefits of education.

The Russia Probe

After watching the 4 videos for the Russia Probe I have noticed there are different approaches taken by each video to speak on the subject. The different approaches allow for different opinions and takes on it. While some videos claim trump has nothing to do with the Hilary Clinton emails, others make claims that his party could have definitely had a hand in it. While the source of the information came from a man in the trump party its seems inevitable that they would have also known of the information and used it to there advantage for the presidential
election.
